BRANTFORD, ON | October 10, 2023 – October marks five years since Canada legalized cannabis. The introduction of The Cannabis Act regulated the production, distribution, and sale of cannabis for adults 18 and older in Canada. Since then, a lot has changed over the years for cannabis retailers who have seen the industry undergo many shifts, impacting their business models, customer experience, and opportunities.
Tonik Cannabis opened its doors in April 2021, embracing its role as a locally owned and operated store in the Brantford community. Since welcoming its first customers, owner Anthony Horvath has seen firsthand the shift in how people perceive cannabis use.
“Legalization went a long way to break down the stigmas surrounding the consumption of cannabis.
